What is Classy?

Classy brings guided 3D lessons to education through the development of a platform that offers a new, technically advanced, and engaging e-learning method. The platform offers better learning opportunities by following a virtual model while connecting a teacher with the students in a fantastic virtual and fully customizable world. The solution offers numerous features suitable for classes, such as voice communication, group quizzes in the form of games, images, and more, as well as the ability to take personalized lessons with guided tours with virtual reality glasses.

What’s new?

The project, which is in its 20th month of implementation continues development and in the past few months, a lot of progress has been done leading to the successful creation of Prototype 1 which was presented in ARVR Innovative in Dublin in May 2022 and then was upgraded to Prototype 2 with even more features which was showcased in Thessaloniki International Fair in September 2022.

The features already implemented are the following:

Prototype 1:

• Conference system integration
• Turn server integration
• Experience builder v1
• Session and Experience manager
• Profile settings
• Avatar spheres

Prototype 2 improvements:

• SketchFab integration (import models in the experience builder)
• Experience builder v2
• Live session for student and teachers
• Movement of avatars in live sessions
• Prebuild environment with navigation mesh (Colosseum, others will follow)
• Point of interest for information inside the 3D environment

Dublin and Thessaloniki Transnational Meetings and Multiplier Events.

The consortium had a very productive transnational meeting in Dublin in May 2022 to discuss the progress of the deliverables and of course the showcase of prototype 1.  The brilliant work of the consortium was also showcased to the public with the participation of the Classy project at the ARVR Innovate conference in Dublin and was a great networking opportunity to meet potential customers or future partners.  ( https://www.facebook.com/ARVRInnovate ).

In September 2022, the consortium also met in Thessaloniki to discuss also Prototype 2 and to participate in the 86th Thessaloniki International Fair.  The participation was very successful while we showcased the brand new pre-made environment of the Colosseum which contains information about the space and the history of this monument and of course all the new features.   Users could navigate inside the Colosseum and observe how it looked like in the past.

 

Some dissemination material, including a bag with a pen and a notebook with the logo of Classy, was given as a gift to those who visited our booth and tried our 3D Teaching platform solution as well.  We also managed to design and distribute a promotional flyer to the visitors of the International Fair.

 

What about the future?

As we are heading towards the end of the project, with only a few months remaining, a lot of work has to be done.  In the following weeks the consortium will proceed to the testing of the platform with the help of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki but also SchooVR to see what the users like and what they would like to be improved. When the testing is completed the platform will be updated with the necessary changes and our product will be finalized.
